11:17 am - ADV Info -- **Survey Participation**

sircarew
Hi everyone!!

This is one of the few times that I have ever sent out a mass e-mail to ALL clubs! As you can imagine, I needed a big audience for what I’m about to say! Before I dive right into it, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!

Now for the fun – I am REALLY disappointed in the level of participation in our monthly surveys. We have less than 2% total participation among all the clubs. That number has been pretty consistent since the start of this program a year ago. That is not good! I need 100% participation monthly. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to start making the surveys mandatory. I LOVE providing cool, FREE content for your club program, but I need a little something in return. A lot of time and energy is invested in them! AND the participation that I graciously beg for every month only helps ADV help you. It’s all for your benefit down the road. I promise that we use this VALUABLE information to make our program and services more beneficial to you!! Starting January 1st, I will begin making the surveys mandatory. I will contact your club on an individual basis to discuss your survey participation. If your club does not participate, then I will not be able to include you in the monthly mail-outs until this is addressed.

Monthly surveys can be found at www.advfilms.com/advocates/surveys.asp

I am so sorry that I have to make this new rule. I did try to drive up survey participation without having to go to this extreme with the current Survey Contest. If you weren’t already aware, we have a survey contest that was announced in the November newsletter. The survey contest runs through January 2006. I checked the November participation and we had less than 100 responses. (Now you see why I’m so discouraged!) Please note that there are rules and regulations for this contest, so please make sure you don’t violate them (For example, don’t have people fill out more than one survey per month, etc.). Complete rules can be found here: http://www.advfilms.com/advocates/contest.asp.

A couple of things to note: If your club does not have access to computers, then go ahead and print off the surveys online and mail completed ones to me. I can have someone input the data on my end. I definitely want to work with everyone based on their available resources. The newsletters can be found online at www.advfilms.com/advocates/newsletters.asp if you need to print out more copies for your club members.

Come on everyone!!! PLEASE help me out!! Please, please, please. The state of this program is in your hands. Show me what you’re made of!!

If you have any questions on this, please shoot me an email. Let’s work out any concerns that you may have with this, so your club membership is not jeopardized. Thanks in advance to every single one of you that is helping me out. We all love reading and talking about anime. I don’t want that to end with ONE SINGLE CLUB!!

**Please disseminate this e-mail to ALL your club members at your next club meeting.**

8:25 am - Permission Updates

sircarew
It appears we have room #107 in the library reserved for the term. ^_^

Bandai and ADV have given permission to show their products.

I still need to send in the letter to RSI and sign the ADV form and send that back in, but apparently my printer is not working, so that will have to wait until I get back to school.

sorry there have been so many versions
but this should be the final one

as you can see, weeks two and three will be a bit redundant
because we couldnt get a room with a computer on week two

hopefully everyone can handle it, though

personally, i know that i could watch mahoromatic all day
so six episodes in a row isnt going to be any sorta hardship for me

im sure the same goes for vandread, to an extent

sircarew
Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) OVA Trust/Betrayal Director's Cut DVD $9 before shipping!  I paid around $40 for mine!  Great price, and a great anime!

Also, each season of Slayers is on sale for only $35 each at this site!  Again, I spent almost $55 for each season, so if you have the money, now is the time to buy!

A few other deals on the site, but most of them I haven't seen, so if you have a little extra cash, you may want to experiment.

9:54 pm - hentai inside

korgan
hey guys

so i seriously do wanna set up a hentai night, sometime

at least one night
and then, if its successful
we can repeat it as we see fit

the thing is, we probably couldnt do it in the library
cause, even though they probably wouldnt know the difference
i dont think the school would appreciate us watching porn, there

we could do it at someones own place
but we would need a readily available computer
which we would be able to seat a few people around
in a comfortable fashion

the reason is, most of the hentai i own
isnt on dvd or vhs

its just downloaded stuff

the perfect solution, as far as i can tell
would be a laptop that was capable
of being connected to a television input

so um... if anyone has something like that
or knows someone who does
the anime club would really like to borrow it for a night :P

as for actual content, ive got a few good ones
that i think everyone can enjoy
without being too terribly disturbed, or anything

of course, everyone else is welcome to bring their own favorites, as well

i dont really plan on this being a formal thing

anyway... give me your thoughts and ideas

in the mean time, ill just continue downloading porn

The forum for Wednesday will be in the Calapooia room, instead of the Oregon room. Also, this is from Sarah Cole, Student Activities Board Director.

Lighting of the Giant Sequoia
Western Oregon University
2004

PARADE INVITATION and INFORMATION

On behalf of the Associated Students of Western Oregon University’s Student Activities Board I would like to invite you to be a part of our traditional Lighting of the Giant Sequoia parade. The parade will be on the evening of December 1, 2004 at approximately 6:30.
Western Oregon University would be honored to have your organization, hall govt., or piece of the community be part of our annual parade. This is an event that most of our community participates in, and for you, an excellent opportunity to show the enthusiasm you share with us.
Here are the guidelines and other pertinent information for the parade:

The parade will start as soon as the tree is lit, therefore each participant must meet in Parking Lot D (corner of Jackson and Warren) at 6:00pm on Wednesday to get placed for the parade. The route will start in front of Yang’s Teriyaki restaurant and will end in front of Hamersly Library.
Floats may not have any highly flammable materials on them.
Small lights are acceptable, but open flames are not.
There needs to be one person on each side of your float, walking, while it is in motion to keep small children and pets out of harms way.
You may toss candy, but be sure to toss it on to the ground and not at people.

If you wish to participate in the parade, you MUST contact me by phone or email, by 11/24/04, so that a float schedule can be made and handed out before the event. When calling or emailing, please include your name, organization, and contact information (preferably an email address).
Thank you so much for your participation in this amazing community event. I hope to see you all there because you are ALL a huge part of our community! Please contact me with any questions you may have.

With best regards,

1:52 pm - Winter and Spring Terms

What type of anime would people be interested in seeing and why?

Winter Term:
Irresponsible Captain Tylor - One of my favorite series. It's almost a complete comedy with a subtle drama laying beneath the surface that emerges from time to time. Awesome series in my opinion. The liner notes on the DVD also help explain some of the cultural things casual viewers may not be aware of and they explain a few of the jokes and how they work them out in the translation. But I'm being remiss by not giving an idea of the story. The anime is based on a book series and there have been a few changes between the two... but what remains the same is a Tylor. Ready to live the easy life, he decides to join the army just as intergalactic war is starting up. He quickly finds himself a captain of a battleship. The series follows him and his crew.

Vandread - War has been waging between men and women for generations, and now a mysterious 3rd entity has appeared and seems intent on destroying them both! Only a small band of female pirates and their male prisoners have a clue as to what is happening. Together, they must either unite men and women together, or find some means to stop this new force. The series reminds me of Tenchi, with a host of women characters and a few male characters. I've only watched the first season so far, but I really liked it! :)

Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars - A slower series, more interested in the relationships of a duke and a princess. It's a SF drama that has deep characterization and moments of flash. The pace, in my opinion, is similar to .hack//SIGN, but the series has more forward momentum. I've only watched the first season so far, but I bought the other two seasons. This series is also based on a book series in Japan.

Spring Term:
Princess Nine - A girl high school is determined to compete with the boy high schools in baseball. The production values are a little low in spots, but an enjoyable series. The series focuses on the daughter of a former high school baseball champion, and her apparent gift to pitch like he use to. A series with ups and downs, at times a bit cliche, at other times pleasantly surprising.

Brigadoon - A TV series of hope and optimism that is cruelly crushed episode after episode. Two worlds are colliding, and Marin, a young girl, seems to be the key to saving either one, or possibly both worlds, but creatures from the other world seem to want her dead except for her mysterious guardian, Melan, and a strange green cat-like creature. Is she the key to saving the world? Will she live long enough to find out?

Battle Athletes - Where to start? Another comedy type anime with an underlying dramatic story. Akari is the daughter of the most renowned Cosmic Beauty champion (the ultimate woman athelte) of all time. Unfortunately for Akari, she doesn't seem to have much of her mother's talent. A fun series with an amusing cast of characters.

Any Time:
Macross Plus: The Movie - An edited version of the Macross Plus OVA series with about 30 minutes of additional material that helps flesh out a few relations ships and helps give closure to the ending of the series, whcih the OVA left a little too open in my opinion. Great animation, and amazing music by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne). This movie has been described as the Top Gun of anime.

There is no way we could watch all of these, heck, there may not be time to watch any of these titles, or you may have seen them and hated them. If anyone has other suggestions, I'd like to hear them. Even if we don't see them in anime club, they may wander onto my "anime to buy" list.

current mood: geeky
